Asus Eee PC 1000 Benchmarks:
SaberTooth vs Default SSD
We bought an off-the-shelf Eee PC 1000 netbook, and our engineers
tested three different storage options to compare performance. First
we tested the SaberTooth SS, next we tested the SaberTooth S4, then
the SaberTooth S, and for comparison we tested the default Asus SSD
that came in our Eee PC 1000. SaberTooth SS, SaberTooth S4 and SaberTooth
S all out-performed the Asus Default SSD by a wide margin. See our
analysis and actual screenshots below. Note that while we believe
this to be an accurate reflection of real performance, your results
may vary.
1. ATTO Disk
ATTO tests read and write speeds for a range of file sizes. The default
SSD scored about 34MB/sec read and 25MB/sec write. SaberTooth SS achieved
up to 121MB/sec read and 86MB/sec write. SaberTooth S4 earned 124MB/sec
Read and 45.5 MB/sec write scores. SaberTooth S scored about 92 and
57 MB/sec in read and write tests respectively.

2. HD Tach
HD Tach measures sequential read speed, showing a transient chart
and scores for burst and average speeds. SaberTooth SS reached burst
speed of 113.3 and average speed of 98.8 MB/sec. SaberTooth S4 scored
113.5 burst and 99.1 average MB/sec. SaberTooth S earned a burst score
of 87.1 and average speed of 76.8 MB/sec. The Asus Default SSD scored
37.3 and 33.1 in burst and average speeds.

3. HD Tune Pro
HD Tune gives scores for min, max and average read speed. SaberTooth
SS scored 72.1, 95.3 and 93.3 MB/sec respectively. SaberTooth S4 earned
72.2, 95.5 and 93.8 MB/sec respectively. SaberTooth S scored 60.7,
78.9 and 73.4. And the 8GB Default SSD scored 9.3, 34.0 and 30.2 MB/sec
respectively.

4. IO Meter
IO Meter is one of the best available tools for
measuring transaction speed in I/O operations per second. High IOPS
performance is especially important for database applications. We
tested 4K IOPS on all four SSDs. SaberTooth SS scored 1193; SaberTooth
S4 again earned the highest score with 1313; SaberTooth S scored 1117;
the Asus Default SSD scored 527.

Conclusion
Upgrading to a SaberTooth SS, SaberTooth S4 or SaberTooth S SSD will
give you dramatically faster performance in most applications and
provides much greater storage capacity than the Asus default SSD.
SaberTooth SS, S4 and S models support read and write speeds that
are 2X to 8X faster than the 8GB default SSD. SaberTooth S4 captured
first place in all read tests while SaberTooth SS showed the zippiest
write speeds of the four SSDs by far.
